Hi everyone! We're back! To anyone out there reading, I'm really sorry about the unexpected disappearance. My computer is back now, although I have been having some lingering connectivity issues and life is about to get really hectic between the end of the semester and the prelude to the holidays both creeping up. So I am back and I am here to stay, but I might not be as regular in the next few weeks. I do plan on trying to keep up with my usual features, but there might not be daily posts for the next bit, and things might be a bit late.
There's not much to recap for the two weeks in review here. Movie-wise, there was The Rocky Horror Picture Show and The Nightmare Before Christmas, both of which I consider to be Halloween (and really any random time of the year) staples. I meant to also do reviews of old favourites Sweeny Todd and Repo! The Genetic Opera as well as new releases Frankenweenie and Fun Size. These reviews will all eventually make it up here, but I'm not going to rush them - I will, however, note that I love Sweeny and Repo, I thought Frankenweenie was cute and nicely paid tribute to both classic Tim Burton movies and the Frankenstein genre, while Fun Size was just bad. Book-wise we covered the graphic novel continuation of Joss Whedon's Angel, which I did in two parts, Angel: After the Fall (Maxi-Series) and Angel: After the Fall (Continuing Series). While I've really enjoyed other elements of Joss Whedon's universe, I was a bit disappointed with both of these works, particularly because of the lack of continuity within them. I have been reading the latest installments in the Buffyverse comics, and I have to say that so far at least Angel and Faith is far superior to After the Fall.
Next Week - Next week is going to be Bond-tastic! We finally finish off the Bond marathon with the last Eon films, Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, and Skyfall. To round it all out, I'll be doing a note on the series as a whole, discussing my favourite of each of the main reoccurring characters: Bond, M, Q, and Moneypenny. It's about a week later than I intended it to be, but such is life.
